About the Role

The Quality Manager is responsible for the Quality Management System and supporting Quality Control functions, serving as the Management Representative with authority and responsibility as defined in AS9100. This role coordinates all QMS related functions, implements Lean and 5-S initiatives, and designs/implements systems to improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for the Quality Management System (QMS) and maintain certifications/approvals in accordance with AS9100.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve QMS processes, procedures, and documentation.
  • Act as the Management Representative, fulfilling defined authority and responsibility.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and collaborate with management on quality inspection and prioritization.
  • Assist management in understanding bottlenecks and inconsistencies.
  • Manage Quality functions to ensure high-quality products and compliant data are delivered on schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with customer and industry requirements.
  • Develop cost-effective controls and solutions to reduce the cost of poor quality.
  • Monitor and support all functions of the QMS.
  • Formulate, document, and maintain quality control standards and objectives.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring on quality and technical requirements.
  • Support technical decisions and problem-solving.
  • Provide Quality support for contract/requirement review, planning, audits, visits, program reviews, source inspections, product/process development, Failure Analysis, RCCA investigations, and Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Track and communicate customer quality issues, rejections, escapes, failures, problems, and audit findings.
  • Develop recovery plans, RCCA plans, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing to address supplier quality issues and improve incoming material quality.
  • Manage QMS specific systems such as Corrective Actions, Internal Auditing, and Calibration.
  • Take ownership of internal, vendor, and external customer issues, ensuring responsive and committed service.
  • Travel to other sites to provide support and generate business when appropriate.
  • Create and direct environmental test functions and applications.
  • Provide budgetary guidance and input through annual standards reviews and department budgets.
  • Perform related duties to meet department and/or company objectives.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree and/or equivalent of 5 years related experience/education combination.
  • Full understanding of QMS standard required.
  • AS9100 standard knowledge is desired.
  • Technical literacy, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Project Management and organizational skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to apply knowledge to interpret customer requirements.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and make quality decisions without negative impact.
  • Proficient and effective in leading root cause corrective action analysis.
  • Diverse knowledge of inspection control methods, techniques, and standards.
  • Ability to develop and execute effective plans, identify obstacles and countermeasures, and communicate effectively.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver's license and be eligible to drive a company vehicle.
  • Must meet insurance coverage requirements for driving a company vehicle.
  • Ability to travel regularly, including before/after normal work hours.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in an ERP System and Office365 Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (professionally) with internal and external contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal, organization, follow-up, and communication skills.
  • Work eligibility limited to US persons.
  • Ability to operate a telephone, cell phone, photocopier, calculator, and computer.
  • Ability to send/receive email messages and post information to computer software.
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses) when performing certain job duties.
  • Requires close mental and visual attention for data preparation/analysis, accounting work, computer terminal use, and extensive reading.
  • Visual acuity, with or without corrective lens.
  • Ability to frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to utilize visual acuity for inspection activities.
  • Ability to pass Jaeger Vision Exam.
  • Ability to drive a company-provided vehicle between Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo facilities.
  • Work involves minimal exposure to unusual elements.
  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to move objects.
