About the Role
New Alternatives for Children, Inc. (NAC) is seeking a Psychiatric/Mental Health Coordinator to join its Comprehensive Healthcare Center, dedicated to serving children and families with medical complexities, chronic illnesses, and disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Prospectively follow all children in foster care receiving mental health care and ensure all clinical and administrative needs are met.
- Review psychological and psychiatric evaluations and lead follow-up on referrals.
- Collaborate with the intake coordinator to address immediate mental health needs.
- Conduct urgent psychiatric evaluations as needed.
- Conduct Spanish-language psychiatric evaluations as needed.
- Drive the process of obtaining consent for and addressing administrative barriers to mental health treatment through collaboration with clinicians, case planners, and parents.
- Ensure referrals for medication management are followed through.
- Ensure all ACS protocols around mental health treatment are followed in accordance with policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with staff in Foster Care, Mental Health, and Medical/Nursing departments.
- Enter data pertinent to encounters in the paper record, electronic health record, or both.
- Communicate effectively with all team members to support a cohesive work environment.
- Provide clinical consultation and advocacy around mental health care needs to other departments.
- Support grant-funded projects related to staff readiness to respond to concerns of child sexual abuse.
- Keep relevant knowledge up to date and apply it to everyday practice.
Requirements
- At least two years of clinical experience.
