About the Role
We are hiring Senior Platform Engineers to modernize and scale eBay’s development and staging environments. In this role, you will drive reliability improvements, reduce systemic friction, and ensure our infrastructure scales securely and efficiently as eBay grows.
Responsibilities
- Design and build microservices (Java / Spring Boot) that extend and integrate with eBay’s IDP
- Develop intuitive front-end experiences for the Internal Developer Platform using React
- Build, operate, and scale Kubernetes-based development environments
- Design automated, reproducible, and highly reliable dev/staging infrastructure
- Reduce pipeline failures caused by environment dependencies
- Drive automation and operational excellence through Python scripting
- Strengthen the scalability, resilience, and performance of eBay’s Internal Developer Platform
- Work closely w/ colleagues in different functional groups and remote offices
- Communicate optimally within your team and across teams
- Identify project risks, quantify risk/benefit relationships, and provide alternative solutions as well as risk mitigation
Requirements
- Proven experience building microservices using Java / Spring Boot
- Frontend development experience with React
- Strong Python scripting and automation skills
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes and cloud-native infrastructure
- Strong distributed systems and platform engineering fundamentals
- High ownership mindset with focus on reliability, scalability, and developer productivity
- This is a hands-on Platform Engineering role focused on designing and building critical developer infrastructure — not a QE, administrator, or support role
