About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and proactive Maintenance/Handyperson to join our team and help keep our Care Home safe, well-maintained and looking its best for our residents. You will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the home and grounds, dealing with day-to-day repairs and ensuring that any potential hazards or defects are identified and addressed. A key part of this role will be maintaining the appearance of the home, including painting, decorating and general redecoration work.
Responsibilities
- Painting and decorating, including room redecoration and general touch-ups
- Carrying out routine repairs and general maintenance
- Basic plumbing, joinery and plastering where appropriate
- Maintaining fixtures, fittings, furniture and equipment
- Handling driving duties and errands for the home
- Carrying out regular health and safety checks and keeping accurate records
- Assisting with fire safety, water temperature checks and other required maintenance checks
- Maintaining the grounds, including grass cutting, pruning and general upkeep
- Keeping storage areas, entrances and fire exits safe, clean and tidy
- Identifying and reporting defects, hazards and repairs requiring specialist attention
- Supporting the Home Manager with deliveries and other practical tasks
- Working respectfully around our residents, maintaining their privacy, dignity and wellbeing at all times
Requirements
- Must be a driver with a clean licence and vehicle
- Experience in painting and decorating and general property maintenance
- Previous experience within a care home or similar environment is desirable
