About the Role
Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking individuals to join their team in Rochester, NY, manufacturing essential lab plastics for vaccines, biologic therapies, and diagnostic kits. This role is part of the Laboratory Products Division, supporting various research sectors with a wide range of laboratory products.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, assemble, and pack products under the direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor.
- Become familiar with product lines and visual defects to identify rejected parts.
- Visually inspect bottles from machines, conveyor lines, or bulk containers and make quality decisions.
- Recognize and report out-of-spec production to supervisors or set-up personnel.
- Perform 15-minute inspections of high-volume production.
- Set up work areas as controlled environments requiring specific attire.
- Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean production environment.
- Maintain necessary paperwork, including 15-minute inspection forms and MQC sheets.
- Work to established QC samples.
- Alert Supervisor/Team Lead or Set-up personnel to emerging problems.
- Adhere to all company and departmental work and safety rules.
- Operate any machine or perform any operation within the assigned department.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a manufacturing, operations, production, lab setting or related field preferred.
- 0-1 year of work experience in a manufacturing, operations, production, lab setting or related field.
- Must possess a High School diploma or a GED.
- Must be able to read, write, and understand the English language.
- Must be able to perform simple math such as add and subtract whole numbers.
- Must have excellent hand/eye coordination skills.
- Must have the ability to lift and load pallets with weights up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to work in a high speed, repetitive production environment.
- Must be able to work well with others in a team environment.
