About the Role

The Associate Project Controls Consultant will manage and deliver project and programme controls, addressing actual budget and forecast costs to effectively capture the business and project status. This role supports business and project delivery within the AECOM Integrated Programme Controls team, requiring demonstrable experience in PMO best practice within a consulting environment on infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver project and programme controls.
  • Address actual budget and forecast costs to capture business and project status.
  • Support business and project delivery in all aspects.
  • Represent cost data formats necessary to control the project.
  • Analyze and use financial data to identify key project issues.
  • Assist in leading junior staff through assignment tasks.
  • Track action items.
  • Use drawings and specifications to establish project baseline data.
  • Prepare revised cost forecasts for select accounts.
  • Prepare analysis of progress trends and cost impact.
  • Review and approve contractor invoices.
  • Perform hands-on earned value monitoring.
  • Evaluate manpower, labor hour, and labor cost requirements versus budget limitations.
  • Prepare variance analysis.
  • Compare actual costs to funding limitations.
  • Prepare expenditure forecasts to identify critical points in project funding.
  • Review purchase order and subcontract commitments and expenditures.
  • Maintain tracking databases to ensure subcontractor funding aligns with work authorization and expenditures.
  • Understand how profits on projects are budgeted and the extent to which the budget value is achieved.
  • Manage scope control and change management.
  • Utilize tracking systems to ensure project management is aware of detailed change order status.
  • Create and assist with cost/schedule baseline budgets.
  • Perform basic cost/schedule integration and basic critical path analysis.
  • Conduct or assist in performance measurement and associated cost trending.
  • Prepare and assist in various levels of project reporting.
  • Participate in and may lead project cost review meetings.
  • Assist in procedure development and implementation.

Requirements

  • Experience working within primary infrastructure markets.
  • Proven experience and excellent working knowledge gained in a multi-discipline project environment in Cost Control or Planning & Scheduling.
  • Experience in the implementation of Earned Value Management based Project Control systems, in accordance with relevant national standards.
  • Practical ability to utilize critical project management concepts (e.g., EVM, project planning, risk analysis, configuration management).
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project or other Planning software and PowerBI.
  • Flexibility to travel and work in different sectors.
  • Good people management and task facilitation skills.
  • Technical professional with extensive project controls experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management.
  • Working knowledge of current methodologies and tools related to managing projects.
