About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Supervising Pharmacist (SP) to join our team at Best Choice Pharmacy! As a supervising pharmacist, you will be receiving incoming prescriptions, reviewing them for accuracy, and filling them with the correct medicine and dose. You will also be talking with customers to help them understand their medications and possible side effects, advising them on medication storage, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment. The ideal Pharmacist candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and is familiar with pharmaceutical best practices.
Responsibilities
- Dispensing prescriptions, compounding, and selling pharmaceuticals, medicines and related drug items.
- Maintain proper records for the purchase and dispensing of prescription drugs, including controlled substances.
- Manage medications, ensuring appropriate handling and safety.
- Remove misbranded, adulterated, outdated, or improperly labeled drugs from stock.
- Ensure proper storage of drugs to prevent loss or deterioration.
- Ensure pharmacy coverage by licensed pharmacists.
- Prevent unauthorized refills of prescriptions and unauthorized sales of legend drugs.
- Ensure security against unauthorized entry into dispensing and compounding areas.
- Provide patient support and education, maintaining accurate patient records and documentation.
- Perform all tasks expected of a licensed professional in this field.
- Maintain professional license status and continuing education credentials.
- Ensure compliance with New York State Board of Pharmacy wholesaler registration for wholesale sales of prescription drugs or devices.
- Ensure the pharmacy is properly registered and operating in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
- Issue notices to employees and subordinates regarding federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations for proper pharmacy practice.
- Manage all day-to-day pharmacy operations, including staffing, safety, maintenance, and compliance with mandatory local, state, and federal regulations.
- Classified as an exempt employee.
Requirements
- Must hold a current state pharmacist license or degree.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and shift priorities as needed.
- A Pharm.D. (Doctor of Pharmacy) or equivalent degree for Rph.
