Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit prior authorization requests for pain management procedures and medications.
  • Communicate with insurance providers to ensure timely approvals.
  • Track and follow up on pending authorizations.
  • Assist in data collection and analysis for ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support documentation and reporting for compliance and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to identify areas for process improvement.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule patient appointments, follow-up visits, consultations, and procedures, ensuring efficient provider schedules and optimal patient flow.
  • Coordinate provider calendars and assist with coverage arrangements during vacations, leave, or other absences.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to physicians, nurse practitioners, and departmental leadership.

Requirements

  • Prior healthcare administrative experience required, preferably in a hospital, pain management, or specialty practice setting.
  • Familiarity with quality improvement initiatives, healthcare compliance standards, and clinical workflows.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing departmental needs.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of prior authorization processes, insurance guidelines, and payer-specific requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and healthcare technology platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, providers, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
