About the Role
We are seeking a Reinsurance Operations Manager to lead day-to-day reinsurance operations and serve as the primary business liaison for our ReAcct ceded reinsurance system. This role involves close collaboration with various internal teams to ensure accurate and timely setup of reinsurance contracts, generation of statements, and tracking of receivables and payables. You will also be the subject matter expert for the ReAcct system, partnering with IT and external vendors for support.
Responsibilities
- Learn and understand current insurance and reinsurance processes for data recording and maintenance.
- Review ceded reinsurance contractual terms for new and renewal programs.
- Track new business communicated by Business Development/Program Management.
- Coordinate with the Reinsurance Procurement team.
- Partner with Data and IT teams to define data requirements for accurate contract setup.
- Lead new and renewal program and reinsurance contract set-up (Quota Share and Excess of Loss).
- Test and validate key system deliverables with Data and IT teams.
- Oversee reconciliations between the ceded reinsurance subledger and source systems.
- Investigate and resolve material variances in reconciliations.
- Manage the reinsurance cash application process.
- Approve settlement details.
- Oversee monthly reporting to the Treasury Department.
- Ensure billing statements are issued to the market per contractual terms.
- Resolve broker queries and due-to/due-from settlements.
- Oversee all aspects of the ReAcct ceded reinsurance subledger.
- Monitor capacity, performance, and ongoing enhancement of the ReAcct system.
- Partner with IT and external vendors to support financial close, SOX compliance, and reporting needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or operations roles (public accounting or private).
- Experience reviewing and approving the work of others.
- Intermediate Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF formulas).
