About the Role
As a Mobile Technician II, you will perform intermediate service and repair of J.B. Hunt tractors, trailers, chassis, containers, or power equipment. Working from a mobile service truck, you will service equipment at customer sites or rail yards under routine supervision.
Responsibilities
- Perform intermediate-level preventive maintenance and repairs, including tire replacements, brake repairs, electrical diagnostics, and basic structural repairs on tractor or trailer equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair ABS systems.
- Properly operate the mobile service truck and manage truck inventory.
- Assist with the onboarding and mentorship of tractor technician trainees.
- Follow all safety requirements while onsite and at customer locations.
- Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures.
- Properly document damage to company equipment to estimate cost of repairs.
- Demonstrate proficient use of a cutting torch and welding equipment to perform mid-level repairs on chassis, frames, and other equipment.
- Patch holes in trailer or container side panels and roofs.
- Perform annual AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections under direct supervision.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000 lbs with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent.
- Demonstration of required skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences.
- Possess a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines.
- Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through our toolbox purchase program.
- Willingness to work outdoors in the elements.
- Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed.
- Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent.
- At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes.
- Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds).
- Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE).
