About the Role

This co-op opportunity involves supporting the Financial Reporting team with quarter and year-end processes, as well as other related projects and initiatives. The role offers a chance to explore Sun Life, make a difference in the lives of customers and communities, and build skills and experience for meaningful growth.

Responsibilities

  • Support quarter and year-end reporting responsibilities for financial statement preparation.
  • Assist in process improvement projects and initiatives during off-quarter/year-end work.
  • Review external financial statements, including proofreading, checking data inputs, and validation.
  • Prepare financial statements for non-public companies for governance and tax reporting under supervision.
  • Ensure effective delivery, filing, and record keeping to support the external audit process.
  • Provide project control of the audit process by collecting and tracking audit requirements and ensuring timely deliverables.
  • Undertake other ad-hoc projects as required.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a university-level degree with the intention to obtain a CPA designation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and frequent interruptions.
  • Proactive approach to understanding and addressing needs.
  • Ability to thrive in an environment with pressing deadlines and changing conditions.
  • Demonstrated academic excellence and leadership ability.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and excellent interpersonal relations.
  • Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to learn new software applications quickly.
