About the Role
The Communication Coordinator is a member of Health Standards Organization's Enterprise Communications team, providing primary communications support for Accreditation Canada Diagnostics, the Institute for Quality Management in Healthcare (IQMH), and the Integrated Community Health Services Centres (ICHSC). This role coordinates and executes communications activities supporting unique programs, services, educational offerings, and strategic initiatives across these clients. Responsibilities include content development, copyediting, digital communications, website management, social media copy creation, newsletter production, and education/event coordination. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, manages multiple priorities, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in technical content related to healthcare or scientific fields.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement communications plans and campaigns to promote programs, services, webinars, virtual learning initiatives, and educational offerings.
- Manage multiple communications and education projects at various stages of development.
- Write, edit, proofread, and copyedit content for email campaigns, presentations, reports, and promotional materials in collaboration with subject matter experts and internal teams.
- Apply Accreditation Canada brand standards, Canadian Press style, and scientific style guidelines to content development and editing.
- Coordinate and publish client-facing newsletters, including content planning, story development, editing, layout, distribution, and reporting.
- Develop social media copy and support digital marketing activities.
- Manage and maintain website content, ensuring information is current, accurate, and accessible.
- Format and prepare documents and publications using Microsoft Office and Adobe InDesign.
- Coordinate timelines, deliverables, approvals, and project activities across multiple business units.
- Monitor project progress and identify opportunities to improve communications processes and outcomes.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, English, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related role.
- Demonstrated experience writing, editing, and copyediting technical content within health care, medical laboratory, scientific, or related fields.
- Working knowledge of digital communications and marketing tools, including email marketing and social media platforms.
- Experience using content management systems (e.g., DotNetNuke) and applications (e.g., Mailchimp, Microsoft Office).
- Advanced expertise in document design, formatting, and publication using Microsoft Office and Adobe InDesign.
- Strong organizational, planning, and interest holder relationship management skills.
- Knowledge of health care accreditation, quality improvement, health care standards, diagnostics, laboratory medicine, proficiency testing, or related scientific disciplines.
- Experience working in health care, medical laboratories, life sciences, public health, or other regulated environments.
- Experience coordinating events, educational programs, webinars, training sessions, or similar initiatives.
- Knowledge of SEO, analytics, and digital marketing best practices.
- Experience in customer service or client relationship management.
- Experience and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
