About the Role

Provides diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. The scope of practice includes procedures for which the individual has received education, clinical experience, demonstrated competency, and appropriate ARDMS certification. Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.

Responsibilities

Performs echocardiographic sonography and cardiovascular ultrasound studies, including stress echocardiogram, echocardiograms, carotid ultrasound imaging, vascular, abdomen, arterial and venous studies for physician review.
Prepares patients for examination by explaining procedures, positioning them, and applying gel.
Ensures ultrasound images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes, adjusting machine settings as needed.
Collaborates with team members to ensure safe and accurate patient care delivery.
Manages patient testing, quality control, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance.
Performs procedures according to physician's orders.
Calibrates and maintains equipment, and orders supplies.
Performs all aspects of patient care optimizing safety and reducing medical errors.
Provides precise documentation on all recorded ultrasound procedures.
Uses independent judgment to differentiate between normal and abnormal findings.
Ensures patient safety, mental and physical comfort during care.
Addresses and resolves patient care problems.
Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships with interrelating offices, hospitals, or agencies.
Adheres to all company policies, including OSHA, HIPAA, compliance, and Code of Conduct.
Maintains regular and dependable attendance.
Follows company core competencies.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED and two-year associate’s degree.
One or more years of experience in performing adult echocardiogram and stress echocardiogram, carotid ultrasound imaging, and arterial and venous studies.
Registered Cardiac Sonographer, Registered Vascular Specialist (Preferred).
Experience leading or involved in obtaining ICAEL accreditation (Preferred).
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) with ARDMS or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) with CCI.
BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements.
AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card or within 60 days of hire required.
Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) with ARDMS (Preferred).
Ability to effectively operate ultrasound equipment.
Ability to continue to learn and grow in profession.
Ability to evaluate ultrasounds to acquire appropriate diagnostic information.
Ability to integrate diagnostic ultrasound, laboratory results, patient history and medical records, and adapt ultrasound examination as necessary.
Ability to use independent judgment to acquire optimum diagnostic ultrasound information.
Ability to evaluate, synthesize, and communicate diagnostic information to the attending physician.
Ability to communicate effectively with the patient and health care team, recognizing special needs.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and health care team.
Ability to follow established departmental procedures.
Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations.
