About the Role
TYLin is seeking a Civil Engineering Co-op/Intern for a 4-month work term beginning in January to assist with various aspects of infrastructure design and project support.
Responsibilities
- Assist with proposal and project schedule preparation.
- Assist with feasibility studies, functional plans, and preliminary/detailed design for highways, roads, and intersections.
- Assist with area transportation studies, traffic operations, parking demand investigations, analyses, recommendations, and site impact analyses.
- Perform calculations and analysis using engineering formulas for municipal infrastructure design (roads, sewers, watermains) supporting land development projects.
- Prepare grading and servicing plans for land development projects.
- Prepare sanitary and storm design sheets.
- Prepare erosion & sedimentation control plans.
- Assist in preparing contract specifications and tender packages, including quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
- Assist in applying for and obtaining necessary permits and approvals for construction.
- Review plot plans for houses.
- Assist with and provide regular progress status reports.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program for civil or environmental engineering.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil3D and/or ArcGIS is an asset.
- Prior experience in preparing transportation studies and functional servicing reports is a plus.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a proven ability to efficiently prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear documentation and interacting professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also able to effectively collaborate in a team environment.
- Strong commitment to integrity, consistently demonstrating ethical, fair, and responsible behavior.
- Commitment to innovation and continuous learning, with a passion for acquiring new skills and driving improvements.
