About the Role
Monzo is seeking a proactive, curious, technically-minded, and organized Senior Security Analyst to join its Security team. This role is crucial for ensuring the bank's safety and security for its customers, offering broad exposure to information security work and the opportunity to solve interesting problems and strengthen security risk management as the company grows.
Responsibilities
- Deliver third-party security and supplier security assurance, assessing new and existing suppliers and managing risks throughout the supplier lifecycle.
- Conduct security assurance activities, including control testing, PCI DSS assessments, regulatory reviews, and audits.
- Strengthen governance by improving security policies, procedures, and controls.
- Support the Security Front Door by responding to security questions and requests from across Monzo.
- Take ownership of loosely defined security problems, determine the best way forward, and involve the right people to achieve outcomes.
- Assist teams in building and changing safely by reviewing new products, technologies, or business changes to identify security risks and control gaps.
- Improve operational processes using data, automation, and AI for greater simplicity and scalability.
- Raise the bar for security by bringing fresh perspectives, developing personal skills, and mentoring less experienced analysts.
Requirements
- Understanding of security risk, with the ability to identify, assess, and recommend proportionate management strategies.
- Ability to evaluate security evidence, including supplier questionnaires, security policies, and penetration test reports.
- Strong security fundamentals and technical curiosity, with comfort in technical details and asking insightful questions.
- Ability to think beyond immediate tasks, identify patterns and root causes, and use data for prioritization.
- Proactive approach with the ability to make progress independently and challenge assumptions.
- Skill in managing competing priorities, keeping stakeholders informed, and making sound escalation decisions.
- Clear communication skills, capable of explaining security risks and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Enjoyment of collaboration and building relationships across different disciplines.
- Passion for security, staying current with industry trends, and a motivation for continuous learning.
