About the Role
The purpose of this position is to mix and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, preparing a variety of drinks, serving patrons, and handling payments. The role also involves maintaining bar cleanliness, stock levels, and adhering to safety and sanitation procedures.
Responsibilities
- Mix and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.
- Prepare a variety of alcoholic drinks by selecting proper premix and garnish.
- Serve patrons directly or deliver to wait staff.
- Receive payment, operate cash register, and make and return change.
- Prepare documentation for cash funds accountability.
- Set up bar for operation, ensuring it is presentable and sanitary.
- Assure adequate stock levels are maintained.
- Set up storeroom and work area for easy access to stock items.
- Maintain work area neat and clean.
- Wash bar equipment, glassware, and utensils following proper sanitation procedures.
- Stock services bars.
- Assist higher level bartenders as required.
- Complete required training in the serving of alcohol beverages.
- Identify persons who become unruly or who appear intoxicated, resolve the problem, or seek assistance.
- Adhere to safety regulations and standards.
- Use required safety equipment and observe safe work procedures.
- Promptly report any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale.
- Completion of a bartender’s training school may be substituted for the required experience.
- Experience recognizing intoxicated or unruly patrons and resolving the problem or seeking assistance.
- Experience following proper cash handling procedures.
- Must be able to stoop, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
- Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing 5 to 10 pounds, pull and push objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift up to and over 40 pounds.
- Must meet the appropriate minimum age requirement for working with and/or serving alcoholic beverages.
- One year experience as a bartender (preferred).
- Must satisfactorily complete a Federal Background check and all pre-employment requirements.
- Applicants may not be employed in the chain of command of their relatives.
- Must have working knowledge of sanitation procedures.
- Must meet the appropriate minimum age requirement for working with and/or serving alcoholic beverages.
