About the Role

Provide supervision, support, case management, counseling, and training to help youth achieve self-sufficiency and become contributing community members.

Responsibilities

  • Teach, model, and evaluate effective techniques and interventions for youth focused on academic, vocational services, and life skills.
  • Ensure client safety and well-being, monitoring progress toward individual goals through weekly counseling and apartment visits.
  • Complete and file accurate, thorough, and timely progress notes, court reports, safety/skills assessments, and correspondence.
  • Utilize a Solution-Focused Trauma-Informed Care Approach to collaborate with various stakeholders to minimize barriers and enhance youth success.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of client independent living plans, instructing and counseling on personal conduct, hygiene, appearance, social skills, routines, and work habits.
  • Foster the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of each child and assist clients in developing Independent Living Skills.
  • Ensure the safety and security of clients and the Monroe Street Building through safety checks, building walkthroughs, and monitoring surveillance systems.
  • Actively participate in required training opportunities and provide mentoring for student interns and volunteers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and as an enthusiastic team player.
  • High degree of discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Availability to work non-traditional hours, including weekends, evenings, and after hours for programmatic schedules and crisis intervention.
  • Willingness to maintain on-call responsibilities as scheduled.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, staff, families, and community contacts.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a human services related field with 3 years of experience.
  • Valid New York State driver's license and adequate auto insurance.
