About the Role
The Driver III will operate commercial truck/trailer, tractor trailer or combination vehicle that requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A to pick-up and deliver parcels. Drivers are responsible for safely and accurately delivering and picking up cargo, maintaining accurate driving logs (ELD), and inspecting and maintaining company trucks.
Responsibilities
- Drive truck to and from specified destinations safely and follow all state, local laws, and DOT regulations.
- Focus on safety and compliance, including real-time reporting of accidents or incidents, monitoring road conditions, and following traffic laws.
- Handle general fleet maintenance, including fueling, cleaning, truck inspections, and reporting maintenance needs.
- Prepare receipts for loads picked up or bills of lading.
- Maintain driver hours of service using electronic logs and ensure rest periods according to regulations.
- Maintain and ensure compliance with DOT and other applicable regulations.
- Provide timely communication with supervisor/manager regarding daily route status.
- Ensure timeliness of client delivery by anticipating challenges and ensuring timely departure.
- Inspect truck equipment and supplies, and verify freight paperwork.
- Perform emergency roadside repairs and secure cargo during transit.
- May load and unload truck when not driving.
- May operate a forklift or pallet jack when not driving.
- Destination may be either Short Haul or Long Haul.
- Maintain a clean work environment and follow safety policies.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience required.
- Must have a current Medical Card.
- Must have an acceptable MVR (Motor Vehicle Record).
- Must be able to pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam and road test.
- Cargo screening is required if driving in CA.
- No more than three (3) moving violations in the past 36 months (or combination of two (2) moving violations previous 12 months).
- No preventable accidents involving a fatality, bodily injuries treated away from the scene, or disabling damage to a motor vehicle within three years.
- Has no conviction for driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs violation within the past seven (7) years.
- No positive drug or alcohol results in the last 7 years reported to Clearinghouse.
- Must be a team player who works well with others.
- Must have a strong work ethic with an appreciation for ownership, independence, accountability, and autonomy.
- Must have a growth mindset, be passionate about the craft, and look for ways to improve.
- Must have a customer service focus and build relationships.
