About the Role

The International Business Manager is responsible for import commodity supplies, market clearing sales, and domestic customers with a global presence, managing commercial relationships with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of international sales and import commodity purchases of dairy ingredients to meet strategic objectives and achieve growth and profit goals.
  • Develop business relationships, determine customer needs, identify opportunities, negotiate contracts, and manage forecasts.
  • Collaborate with supporting teams and cross-functional teams to align requirements for international ingredients trade, including registrations, documentation, duties, logistics, and market analysis.
  • Coordinate international sales efforts with other Lactalis Groupe stakeholders to attain best value for Lactalis Canada and the Groupe.
  • Manage and develop existing and new domestic business by building relationships, understanding customer needs, proposing solutions, and ensuring ongoing support.
  • Ensure domestic customer day-to-day needs are met by communicating with functional areas and resolving issues.
  • Manage and develop reports to achieve goals, including delegating responsibilities, setting goals, and assigning tasks.
  • Travel for trade events and customer meetings to develop business opportunities and present product information.
  • Manage claims and ensure cross-functional teams are involved in resolution, maintaining customer communication until resolved.

Requirements

  • University degree or College diploma, preferably in Food Science or International Trade or related fields, or relevant experience.
  • 7 years’ experience in account management and international trade.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience effectively managing mid-size and full-size foodservice or ingredient accounts, preferably in the Canadian dairy and/or global dairy environment.
  • Familiarity with trade agreements such as CPTPP, CETA, CUSMA.
  • Experience with multi-level relationship building.
  • Solid knowledge of the Canadian milk system and/or global dairy market.
  • Proficient in negotiation and problem solving.
  • Extraordinary situational awareness and perception of international markets coupled with solid business acumen.
  • Ability to think strategically and with depth of comprehension.
  • Strong negotiation skills: Able to strategically negotiate desired outcomes when facing executives from world-class companies and negotiators who are experts in dairy and commodities.
  • Strong analytical, planning, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent people skills to manage reports and work effectively within a small team environment requiring open sharing of information.
  • Professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient with standard office computer technology such as Microsoft Office and the Internet.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and BW.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian milk system, global dairy markets, and understanding of food composition, nutrition and manufacturing.
