About the Role
This position serves as the Fort Drum ACS Educator, providing supplemental support across various Fort Drum programs including Information & Referral, Relocation Readiness, Family Development, Financial Readiness, and Army Emergency Relief. The role involves flexible programmatic and administrative support, planning and delivery of educational programs, outreach, marketing, event support, and administrative functions for government service program leads.
Responsibilities
- Implement established Fort Drum educational programming and activities based on identified needs and the established plan of work.
- Provide information to military family members on employment opportunities, family development skills, relocation readiness needs, and financial stability resources.
- Assist in providing Fort Drum educational programs via mass media.
- Foster acceptance of Fort Drum Program methods and policies while addressing community and individual needs.
- Serve as a team member and cooperate with Association and Fort Drum programming staff.
- Coordinate, compile, and organize existing program resources and materials.
- Promote and implement major public events and programs, including social and mass media efforts.
- Answer telephones and direct calls appropriately.
- Register program participants for programs.
- Greet and direct visitors.
- Schedule meetings and classes.
- Communicate updated community resources to clientele.
- Enter data into various computer programs or online forms.
- Provide support to other educators with tasks such as filing, copying, and formatting correspondence.
- Support with all correspondence, including letters and meeting materials.
- Create program flyers, brochures, educational materials, and other special projects.
- Perform other general office duties as needed/assigned.
- Maintain professional relationships with other agencies, organizations, and businesses.
- Transport program materials and resources as needed.
- Develop and pursue a professional development plan to increase competencies and address organizational priorities.
- Collaborate in activities supporting Cornell Cooperative Extension.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Support the association in maintaining a safe working environment.
- Be familiar with and follow applicable federal, state, and local regulations, and association health and safety policies.
- Act proactively to prevent accidents and injuries and communicate identified hazards to supervisors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education (Associate’s Degree and two (2) years transferable program/functional experience).
- Experience relevant to the role of the position.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License and ability to meet travel requirements.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
Skills
- Familiarity with military life.
- Ability to utilize program resources within the Fort Drum and general community.
- Ability to plan, teach, and evaluate informal educational programs through various delivery methods.
- Ability to work with people of diverse ages, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Ability to relate professionally to co-workers, customers, volunteers, and community leaders.
- Ability to communicate effectively through oral, written, and visual means.
- Ability to utilize computer technologies for educational and communication purposes.
