About the Role

Reporting to the Site Manager, the Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist works within a facility management organization that provides a variety of O&M services. This role is responsible for completing assigned tasks while maintaining a constant focus on environmental, health, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect site for batteries, package, and prepare them per shipping regulations.
  • Coordinate battery shipments, schedule shipments, photograph shipments, and sign on behalf of AMD.
  • Submit battery documentation to the onsite AMD EHS Engineer.
  • Inspect site for electronic waste and deliver it to the central e-waste collection area.
  • Coordinate shipments of electronic waste.
  • Submit electronic waste documentation to the onsite AMD EHS Engineer.
  • Inspect site for hazardous waste, package, and prepare it per hazardous waste regulations.
  • Coordinate shipments of hazardous waste.
  • Submit hazardous waste documentation to the onsite AMD EHS Engineer.
  • Perform site chemical inventories to support provincial chemical reporting requirements.
  • Perform ventilation surveys and verify DA lab hood face velocities.
  • Support labs with empty box management, waste disposal, and reclaim.
  • Inspect labs for personal/residential equipment used for industrial purposes.
  • Submit requests to CW staff to manage issues found inside the lab.
  • Perform monthly indoor EHS inspections, site walk-throughs, UPS room inspections, fire extinguisher inspections, and eye wash station/shower, First Aid kit, and AED inspections.
  • Inspect all soldering stations weekly to ensure engineers are not using lead solder.
  • Inspect ventilation filters and report results to the EHS engineer.
  • Perform noise surveys.
  • Update and support evacuation planning, map production, and assembly area marking.
  • Review, approve, and audit hot work activities.
  • Submit energy metrics in the online tool, including electricity, water, and waste.
  • Perform Air Permit equipment inventory.
  • Identify workspace ergonomic concerns.
  • Perform refrigerant inventory and work with the mechanical team to identify HVAC equipment with leaks.
  • Attend compliance audits and work to correct any alleged violations identified.
  • Distribute and safeguard COVID PPE such as masks and gloves.
  • Comply with company policies and safety requirements/programs.

Requirements

  • High School graduate, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years EHS experience.
  • Must have flexibility to work overtime and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays, and serve on an on-call basis.
  • Must be able to use personal computers/MS Office.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to management and client representatives.
  • Must possess a valid driver license.
