About the Role
Paychex is seeking a data-driven Paid Media & Analytics Specialist to manage its paid advertising program. This role involves overseeing a significant annual media investment across various platforms, ensuring accountability from the media agency, building performance reports, and translating data into actionable recommendations to reduce customer acquisition costs. The position is ideal for an individual comfortable with data analysis and agency management.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary internal owner of the agency relationship, including briefing, plan review, and performance accountability across paid search, paid social, and programmatic/display channels.
- Manage and optimize an annual paid media budget exceeding $10M in collaboration with the agency, focusing on efficient pacing, channel mix, and return on ad spend.
- Build and maintain performance dashboards and reports using tools like HubSpot, GA4, and platform-native interfaces to track key metrics such as CAC, channel efficiency, funnel conversion, and budget pacing.
- Analyze campaign and channel-level data to identify optimization opportunities and risks, such as creative fatigue, measurement inflation, or tracking issues, and provide clear recommendations.
- Partner with the agency on quarterly and annual planning, audits, and new channel testing, and support the implementation of measurement strategies with upcoming CDP and media mix modeling tools.
- Stay updated on platform updates, betas, and best practices across all managed channels, proactively identifying opportunities for testing and scaling.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, product marketing, and marketing operations to ensure paid media strategy aligns with company-wide CAC reduction and growth targets.
- Maintain data integrity across ad platforms, CRM, and reporting tools, identifying and resolving tracking or attribution gaps.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in paid media / digital advertising, either in-house or agency-side.
- Direct platform experience across Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, and LinkedIn Campaign Manager.
- Programmatic/DSP experience (StackAdapt or similar) is strongly preferred.
- Strong data analysis skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets.
- Experience building or maintaining dashboards using tools such as HubSpot, GA4, Looker, or Tableau.
- SQL experience is a plus.
- Experience managing or directly contributing to paid media budgets of $5M+ annually.
- Proven track record of managing external agency or vendor relationships and holding them accountable to KPIs.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted analytics or reporting tools for marketing productivity.
- Working knowledge of B2B or SMB SaaS acquisition funnels and core metrics (CAC, LTV, conversion rate, ROAS).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate data into clear recommendations for non-analytics stakeholders.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, comfortable in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment with shifting priorities.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, analytics, business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
