About the Role

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an Entry-Level Waterway Structures Engineer to join our growing Water team. This role involves working on a variety of large infrastructure projects, including steel and reinforced concrete design, with opportunities for collaboration across multiple engineering disciplines. The position offers exposure to all aspects of projects and the chance to build a career on significant infrastructure initiatives.

Responsibilities

Perform engineering calculations and create construction cost estimates.
Create project designs for structures on or near the water (locks, dams, hydropower plants, water control gates, moorings, etc.) in collaboration with senior engineers.
Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, and outcomes.
Interpret and understand drawings from multiple disciplines and respond to requests for information.
Conduct field inspections and surveys to support design and construction efforts.
Research and apply code provisions to design.
Research design alternatives and document findings for project engineer/manager.
Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures using own judgment.
Assist senior staff in creating proposals, client information, and designs.
Develop drawings and apply necessary changes and corrections.

Requirements

Bachelors’ Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
EIT candidates preferred.
Interest in Structural Engineering projects, especially on or near the water; prior experience preferred but not required.
CAD (AutoCAD, MicroStation) skills are a plus.
Strong Microsoft Office skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Attention to detail.
Desire to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability to read, write, and understand English for job-related communications and instructions.
