About the Role
The Chang Lab at Albert Einstein College of Medicine is seeking a Bioinformatics Analyst to develop standardized analytical pipelines for multi-omics datasets, aiming to gain mechanistic insight into human disease. This role involves software development, computational modeling, and collaborative analysis of large biological datasets to identify disease mechanisms, biomarkers, and therapeutic targets.
Responsibilities
- Implement, document, and maintain computational pipelines for multi-omics data analysis, focusing on RNA-seq integration with proteomic, metabolomic, and lipidomic data.
- Build computational workflows using genome-scale metabolic network models for biomarker identification and hypothesis generation.
- Apply machine learning workflows for multi-omics integration, including feature selection, phenotype classification, and latent network inference.
- Adapt computational pipelines for efficient execution on high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
- Apply computational methods to collaborative studies investigating metabolic adaptations in various disease models.
- Interpret computational results in collaboration with experimental scientists to generate biologically meaningful hypotheses.
- Contribute to the dissemination of methods and results through manuscripts and presentations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- At least 2 years of computational research experience post-graduation.
- Strong programming experience in Python, MATLAB, and R.
- Experience developing reproducible computational analysis pipelines.
- Experience working in Linux/Unix environments and with version control systems.
- Familiarity with high-performance computing environments, workflow automation, and parallel computing.
- Excellent written and verbal scientific communication skills.
- Ability to work largely independently with periodic guidance.
