About the Role

This Monday-Friday local intermodal driving position operates from Buffalo-area rail yards, offering daily home time with evening start times. Drivers can expect to run approximately 1,750 miles per week, with occasional overnight stays possible due to freight or weather conditions. Additional compensation is available for qualifying loads, delays, training, and special assignments.

Responsibilities

• Operate local intermodal routes from Buffalo-area rail yards.
• Perform driver load/unload.
• Handle Hazmat loads.
• Transport refrigerated loads.
• Complete border crossings.
• Perform crosstown, driver assist, and empty moves.
• Manage refused deliveries.
• Handle truck order not used situations.
• Address empty search, breakdown, rail delay, waiting, tractor repositioning, overweight rework, yard checks, and safety training.
• Train new drivers.
• Attend mandatory safety or round-table meetings.
• Work on Thanksgiving and New Year's Day.
• Occasional overnight stays may be required due to freight or weather.

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL.
• Minimum 3 months of verifiable Class A CDL experience.
• DOT Medical Card.
• Clean driving record.
• No SAP drivers.
• Hazmat endorsement required within 60 days after orientation.
• Ability to work evening shifts.
• Ability to accommodate occasional overnight stays.
• Possession of a passport or enhanced driver’s license for Canada freight (qualified fleet drivers only).
