About the Role
The DWS Internal Audit team consists of over 40 professionals globally, ensuring timely, high-quality audit results across all DWS activities. This function provides critical input to the Executive Board, governance bodies, and regulators, contributing to the stability and development of a leading global asset manager. The work involves business and risk-oriented perspectives, analytical depth, independence, and modern methodologies including data analytics and AI-supported tools. Internal Audit identifies control weaknesses, conducts risk assessments, performs audits, and develops systematic evaluations of key controls, providing insights that shape business decisions and support DWS's evolution. As the 'third line of defense,' Internal Audit independently assesses risks, prioritizes them strategically, and acts as a trusted partner to senior management and international supervisory authorities. Involvement in global audit engagements and special investigations offers a challenging, diverse, and international work environment, fostering collaboration with experienced colleagues worldwide and enabling active participation in shaping DWS's future.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal control environment under moderate supervision.
- Participate in local and global audit engagements across all DWS Group areas and locations, primarily in London/UK.
- Participate in ad hoc projects and Special Investigations as required.
- Undertake multiple audit assignments and provide front-to-back audit coverage.
- Draft high-quality audit reports for review by Audit management.
- Facilitate issue tracking and validate the closure of audit issues.
- Support dynamic, risk-based audit planning through continuous monitoring of DWS business divisions and infrastructure functions.
- Identify and evaluate key risks.
- Develop effective tests to assess the design and operating effectiveness of key controls.
- Develop and maintain consultative working relationships with the audit team, internal stakeholders, clients, and relevant infrastructure areas.
- Communicate audit results effectively, both verbally and in writing, at all levels of the organization.
Requirements
- Audit experience or equivalent professional experience at a reputable asset manager/financial services company or at an audit firm with a relevant focus.
- Completed university degree in Business Administration, Economics or an MBA.
- Robust knowledge of the value chain and processes of an investment management company, particularly in exchange traded funds, alternative investments, private credit.
- Fundamental understanding of risk management practices and tools.
- Sound understanding of traditional asset management products as well as alternative investment products.
- Independent and proactive working style.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- First project management experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- High willingness to learn.
- Strong assertiveness and readiness to take on challenges.
- Strong team orientation.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently even in high-pressure situations.
- Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity and optimize workflows.
