About the Role
Genius AI is seeking a Senior Design Systems Designer to drive the vision and execution of its design system. This role is critical for scaling the product, supporting a company-wide rebrand, and investing in AI across the platform. The ideal candidate will take ownership, operate with minimal oversight, and influence cross-functional partners to shape the future of design systems at Genius AI.
Responsibilities
- Own the vision and execution of the design system, defining standards, driving adoption, and evolving the system as the product scales.
- Architect and maintain a robust component library with well-documented, reusable UI components for mobile and web.
- Lead the development of design tokens, Figma libraries, variables, and naming conventions.
- Drive the design-to-dev handoff process, partnering with engineering to bridge Figma and production.
- Champion accessibility, quality, and craft standards across all system components and patterns.
- Own documentation and governance for the design system.
- Play a key role in the company-wide rebrand, ensuring consistent application of the new visual language.
- Identify and implement tooling efficiencies, including AI-powered workflows, to improve team velocity and output quality.
- Mentor and collaborate with other designers to raise the craft level of the broader team.
- Influence roadmap and prioritization for the design systems team with a strategic point of view.
Requirements
- 4+ years of product design experience with a significant focus on design systems, component libraries, or design infrastructure.
- A portfolio showcasing strong UI craft and end-to-end product thinking.
- Proven track record of owning and scaling a design system in a production environment.
- Expert-level Figma skills, including components, variables, auto layout, libraries, and prototyping.
- Deep systems thinking ability, designing for edge cases and scale from the outset.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills to align engineers, PMs, and designers.
- Ability to articulate and defend design decisions clearly.
- Mobile-first mindset.
- Experience contributing to design system pillars: Tokens, Accessibility, working with code/developers, Documentation, and Contribution models.
- Passion for empowering small business owners and a high level of empathy for customer needs.
