About the Role
This 12-month contract role involves supporting quarterly processes such as the credit review cycle and IFRS 9 expected credit losses. The Senior Associate will provide technical accounting guidance on transactions related to the Sun Life General Investment Account, leverage data and analytical tools for insights, and help maintain an effective control environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the quarterly credit cycle reporting process, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, summarizing executive materials, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Provide technical accounting guidance for complex transactions pertaining to the Sun Life General Investment Account.
- Assist with the IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) process, summarizing changes in ECL, and ensuring accurate capture of results in the P&L and downstream reporting.
- Perform ad-hoc investigations to answer queries from various teams and cross-departments.
- Maintain the control environment to ensure key controls are operating as described and support quarterly audit requirements.
- Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance team efficiency and provide added value to internal clients.
Requirements
- Experience in the financial services industry with a working understanding of investments and/or insurance.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, change management, and influencing skills.
- Team player mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to make recommendations to management and influence business decisions based on thorough analysis leveraging available data.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet tight reporting deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Experience working with large data sets and building/improving processes.
