About the Role

Texas CASA seeks a Communications Manager to position and elevate the organization as a leader in the child welfare community through strategic internal and external communication. This role involves developing print and digital materials, leading social media efforts, and managing media engagement to reach various audiences including the statewide CASA network, community partners, staff, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit content for internal and external communication materials, ensuring accuracy and adherence to organizational voice, brand standards, and messaging.
  • Develop an annual content calendar in partnership with all Texas CASA departments to ensure unified and timely messaging.
  • Manage Texas CASA's email marketing platform, including newsletter development, list management, and campaign execution.
  • Adapt content tone and format for different audiences.
  • Coordinate with local CASA programs to develop story ideas.
  • Lead social media strategy, including content calendar development and day-to-day management of social media presence.
  • Design graphics for social media and Texas CASA materials.
  • Collaborate on the production of Texas CASA collateral materials.
  • Track and report on social media and email marketing performance.
  • Manage media engagement, including responding to inquiries and maintaining press contacts.
  • Draft and distribute press releases.
  • Monitor CASA and child welfare landscapes for news and crisis prevention.
  • Maintain digital image library of photo and video assets.
  • Support photography and videography for communications channels.
  • Support the production of Texas CASA’s monthly podcast.
  • Offer communications support and subject matter expertise to staff and local programs.
  • Manage Communications Intern.
  • Analyze current communications processes and recommend improvements.
  • Perform other duties and complete special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years communications experience.
  • Must pass background check.

Skills

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills across various formats and audiences.
  • Ability to write in multiple styles.
  • Strong knowledge of AP style.
  • Demonstrated graphic design skills with proficiency in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.
  • High customer service standards.
  • Experience with email marketing software and social media management.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills and willingness to cooperate and communicate with all departments.
  • Willingness to learn new things and take on new projects.

Salary/Compensations

  • $75,000 - $80,000 commensurate with experience

  • Texas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is part of a national volunteer movement that began in 1977. Judges appoint CASA volunteers to advocate for children in court, school and other settings with the goal of reuniting children with their families.

In this role, we support the CASA network by serving as the administrator of state and federal funds, setting and monitoring standards, providing training, leading a statewide volunteer recruitment campaign, advocating for public policy and more.
