About the Role

As a Technical Specialist, you will join Vector's growing Business Computing team, playing a key role in supporting the user community, maintaining business computing infrastructure, and delivering on the cybersecurity program. You are expected to have advanced knowledge of personal computing technologies and basic knowledge/certifications on networking, servers, and/or commonly used business systems.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to technical support requests and resolve technical issues by troubleshooting or escalating as required.
  • Provide support and administration for key business systems (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office 365, space management, audiovisual systems, productivity applications).
  • Support senior technical staff in maintaining Vector’s business/enterprise infrastructure.
  • Participate in cybersecurity program activities, including monitoring security logs, supporting awareness training and phishing campaigns, and taking investigative/remedial actions.
  • Participate in the procurement and deployment of individual computing and communications equipment.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding activities by coordinating tasks, resources, access, and documentation.
  • Participate in various technology initiatives and projects.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge base content to ensure accuracy, currency, and accessibility.
  • Provide training and education to staff and clients.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years professional experience in similar or equivalent environments (mid-sized organization with standard networking environment).
  • Demonstrated experience working in technical support roles for mid-sized or large organizations.
  • Advanced experience supporting personal computing and communications equipment in a networked business environment.
  • Experience supporting business users in a networked environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, prioritize tasks, and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work autonomously, multitask, and work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of end users while troubleshooting issues.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of personal computing technologies
  • Basic knowledge/certifications on networking
  • Basic knowledge/certifications on servers
  • Basic knowledge/certifications on commonly used business systems
  • Experience supporting and managing business networks and servers is considered an asset
  • Cybersecurity experience and/or certifications is considered an asset
