About the Role

Grant Thornton's Financial Services (FS) Tax practice seeks an experienced Associate Director to deliver transaction tax services. This role involves advising clients throughout the deal lifecycle, from initial proposals to post-deal advice, and contributing to practice growth by building client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tax structuring advice and undertake tax due diligence on buy-side and sell-side transactions for private equity and corporate clients in the financial services sector.
  • Lead alongside Transaction Services teams to ensure seamless integration of work.
  • Lead due diligence meetings with target businesses, oversee analysis, and review reports.
  • Prepare and review structuring reports considering tax implications and commercial requirements.
  • Review forecast models, funds-flows, and legal documentation.
  • Collaborate with external contacts (private equity funds, corporate clients, law firms, intermediaries) to drive business development.
  • Engage in business development activities, including proposal preparation and client presentations.
  • Manage project budgets, ensure timely billing and fee collection, and minimize debtors.
  • Produce well-supported technical research using legislation, guidance, and firm resources.
  • Support the training and development of the team.

Requirements

  • Professional qualification (CTA / ACA / ACCA or equivalent).
  • Confidence in managing a portfolio of Financial Services clients.
  • UK corporation tax compliance and/or M&A experience.
  • Experience in client handling and project management.
  • Experience of advising on technical tax matters.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing multiple deliverables, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines.
