About the Role
Barge Design Solutions is seeking a Landscape Architect to join our Landscape Architecture and Planning (LA/P) practice. This role will contribute to a variety of planning and design projects across the Southeastern United States, focusing on urban design, housing, mixed-use developments, town centers, streetscapes, industrial, healthcare, and institutional environments. The team is committed to creating meaningful, sustainable, and well-designed spaces that enhance the built environment and communities.
Responsibilities
- Ensure timely completion of projects and produce high-quality urban design and planning products, working individually or with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Assist in the preparation of comprehensive plans, master plans, zone changes, subdivision applications, and other entitlement efforts.
- Explain urban design and sustainable planning principles and practices to internal and external clients.
- Effectively communicate urban design concepts and solutions verbally and graphically, and engage with stakeholders individually and at public meetings.
- Provide technical guidance on project scope, budgets, and schedules.
- Support Project Managers by providing technical leadership on various projects.
- Conduct planning analysis, create designs, prepare reports, and perform other related tasks.
- Review and prepare complete project documents for conformity and project assurance.
- Influence stakeholders and manage stakeholder relationships within and outside Barge.
- Direct on-site visits to monitor project progress.
- Direct CADD technicians in the preparation of project plans.
- Mentor and review the work of more junior staff for quality assurance.
- Serve as a technical lead on multiple projects or portions of complex projects.
- Assist urban planners in providing analysis and recommendations on community planning, urban design, zoning, and entitlement issues in diverse settings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program.
- Minimum of four (4) years of landscape architecture experience.
- Landscape Architecture registration and experience.
- Demonstrates innovative thinking and knowledge of landscape architecture, planning, and development principles, practices, and trends.
- Ability to conduct studies, analyze findings, and provide recommendations for urban design issues with an emphasis on landscape architecture and site design.
- Ability to interpret federal, state, and local regulations and ordinances.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong hand drawing skills.
- Strong written, oral, and graphic communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and compellingly with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to understand and interpret architectural drawings, landscape plans, and grading plans.
- Experience preparing and assembling presentation graphics, graphic models, renderings, and report/plan documents.
- Portfolio or work samples demonstrating strong illustrative and writing skills (website or reduced PDF preferred).
