About the Role
This role offers the opportunity to join a fascinating industry with daily variety, working as a Class 1 Full-Time Relief Driver primarily within the ELV Car Transporter team. You will meet new customers regularly and operate a range of vehicles, transporting materials between EMR sites and customer locations.
Responsibilities
- Operate Multideck 26t car transporter, 18t Car Transporter, 7.5t Car Transporter, 18t and 26t Skip Lorries, 32t Roll on/Roll off Lorries, and Class 1 Bulk Tippers.
- Transport materials between company sites and customer locations.
- Provide coverage for drivers during periods of absence (holidays, sick leave).
- Shift between all Southern depots.
- Occasionally work within other regional transport departments.
- Undertake nights out as required.
- Adhere to a 45-hour work week.
Requirements
- Hold a HGV Class 1 (CAT C +E) licence.
- Take a methodical approach to work.
- Be patient and able to work unsupervised.
- Remain calm under pressure.
- Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.
- Provide a high level of customer service.
- Follow instructions and discuss changes to plans with your line manager.
- Be a good communicator and able to avoid conflict.
- Recognise/anticipate hazardous situations and react accordingly.
