About the Role

Global Toronto is seeking an experienced and creative Producer passionate about news to shape marquee local news programs. The successful candidate will understand how to create smart, innovative, and impactful live programming from a multi-platform perspective.

Responsibilities

Assist in determining the look, style, and format of the show and stories.
Work with reporters to shape stories and story elements.
Write stories, teases, and headlines, and vet scripts.
Produce interview segments, including set-up, focus, questions, and visual elements.
Pitch and produce original and compelling content for Global News Toronto.
Be a strong team player on the editorial team.
Work with fellow producers and writers to maintain Global News editorial standards.
Plan, select, and request production and resource elements.
Work with affiliates and other Global News departments to coordinate coverage and resources.
Display strong editorial judgment.
Plan and produce special events and breaking news coverage.
Occasionally take live programs to air in a control room setting.
Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

University degree or equivalent post-secondary education in a broadcast-related field.
Ability to respond quickly and knowledgeably to breaking news.
Strong editorial judgment.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in television broadcasting, preferably in a major market.
Strong news writing skills and excellent news judgment.
Exemplary leadership and communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain creativity in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.
Ability to handle the demands and pressure of broadcast deadlines.
Ability to work well in a team setting.
Comprehensive editorial technical knowledge, including lineup management systems and editing programs.
High comfort level with providing clear and constructive feedback.
Strong organizational skills.
