About the Role

The Maintenance Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership and management for a team of engineers and handymen, ensuring maintenance and repair activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards. This role serves as a crucial link between frontline staff, planners, and management, offering operational guidance, resolving issues, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage a team of engineers and subcontractors.
  • Monitor team productivity, attendance, performance, and conduct.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, toolbox talks, and performance reviews.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to engineers.
  • Manage annual leave requests and ensure workforce coverage.
  • Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture.
  • Perform documented monthly site and workplace inspections for compliance.
  • Identify hazards, address non-compliance, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure engineers are trained, competent, and properly equipped.
  • Monitor compliance with risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, implementing recommendations.
  • Inspect completed works to ensure quality standards.
  • Ensure maintenance work complies with regulations and company standards.
  • Identify and rectify defects and poor workmanship.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and address complaints.
  • Act as the first point of contact for engineers needing technical or operational support.
  • Assist in resolving operational challenges and resource issues.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Support emergency and reactive maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure accurate completion and submission of job records and reports.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and performance standards.
  • Maintain accurate records for inspections, training, audits, and compliance.
  • Support audits and compliance reviews.
  • Provide monthly reports to the Head of Maintenance.
  • Attend training and meetings at Head Office.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Ability to motivate, develop, and supervise trade operatives.
  • Sound knowledge of maintenance and repairs operations.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance, defect management, and service delivery standards.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, safe systems of work, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage workloads and resolve operational issues.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with customers, colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Ideally, knowledge of fire door inspection, installation, maintenance, and compliance, including relevant fire safety legislation and industry standards.
