About the Role

This role involves the review, drafting, and negotiation of research-related agreements, providing practical and risk-informed contract review support to CAMH’s research enterprise. The specialist will focus on protecting CAMH’s legal and regulatory interests and ensuring risks are mitigated through contract language. This position supports researchers by fostering strong relationships with internal and external parties and promoting a healthy, diverse, and compliant workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, and negotiate research-related agreements.
  • Provide practical and risk-informed contract review support.
  • Protect CAMH’s legal and regulatory interests.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks through contract language.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable policies and requirements.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (life sciences or business administration) or trained as a lawyer, paralegal, law clerk, or in a related legal discipline.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of previous experience in reviewing, negotiating, and drafting contracts.
  • Experience in contract negotiation in a hospital/health care or clinical research setting is preferred.
  • Expertise in research-related agreements, including collaboration agreements, services agreements, funding agreements, material transfer agreements, and confidentiality agreements is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge in clinical research trials, intellectual property, or artificial intelligence is an asset.
  • Knowledge of widely accepted research policies, guidelines, and regulations is an asset.
  • Service-oriented with strong communication skills, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal awareness.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume caseload of competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • $93,822.73 – $117,278.41 per year (hiring range)
  • $93,822.73 – $140,734.09 per year (full pay range)
