About the Role
Oh Polly is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Finance Director to oversee the financial performance of the business. This senior leadership role involves driving growth, improving profitability, and ensuring a robust financial structure to support expansion in a fast-paced, international fashion environment.
Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the finance function across the business.
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Provide clear financial information and commercial advice to founders and senior leadership.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and overall business performance.
- Oversee monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
- Monitor margins, costs, stock, and profitability.
- Collaborate with Buying, Merchandising, and Supply Chain teams on product costs and margins.
- Manage financial relationships with international suppliers and partners.
- Understand the impact of FX, shipping, duties, freight, and international payments.
- Support US market growth, including sales, tax, currency, and financial reporting.
- Work with commercial and e-commerce teams on sales performance and profitability.
- Identify opportunities to improve costs, margins, and business performance.
- Strengthen financial controls, processes, and systems.
- Manage and develop the finance team.
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisers.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Finance Director.
- Ideally experience within fashion, retail, e-commerce, or a high-volume consumer business.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
- Strong commercial understanding.
- Experience working with a business selling into the US market.
- Understanding of international supply chains and their effect on COGs.
- Strong knowledge of stock, margins, working capital, and cash flow.
- Knowledge of Oracle Netsuite is preferable.
- Good intuition and ability to make quick decisions with limited information.
- Confident communicating with founders, directors, and senior stakeholders.
- Commercial, hands-on approach, willing to get involved in detail.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and develop a finance team.
