About the Role

The Head of Maintenance & Availability plays a key role in delivering the reliability, availability, and performance of the fleet. This role will mitigate capacity constraints, support depot modernization to accommodate a new train fleet, and ensure current fleets meet life-span objectives, aligning with Eurostar Groups safety, environmental, and customer service objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all Maintenance & Availability activities to ensure safe, reliable, and punctual train service delivery.
  • Drive depot operational performance, fleet availability, and reliability to meet commercial and transport plan commitments.
  • Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, maintenance standards, and company policies.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase depot capacity, support fleet growth, and prepare for future operational demands.
  • Manage budgets, workforce planning, and resource allocation to deliver cost-effective operations.
  • Build, lead, and develop high-performing teams, including succession planning and capability development.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders across Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, People, and external partners.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, operational modernisation programmes, and industrialisation strategies across the depot.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a train depot in technical and leadership roles, preferably supported by multiple years in a core Engineering function.
  • Significant leadership experience within train depot operations.
  • Strong track record of managing maintenance operations, fleet availability, and technical performance.
  • Advanced knowledge of depot operations, maintenance regimes, capacity planning, and operational delivery.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams, drive performance, and build a positive safety-first culture.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, relationship-building, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and operational costs.
  • Highly developed analytical, planning, problem-solving, and disruption management capabilities.
