About the Role

nPlan is seeking a planner to lead its Schedule Studio squad. This role is for someone who has built and defended real schedules on real projects and is ready to put that judgment into a product. You will lead the squad, own its mission, reconcile priorities, make trade-offs, and build by prototyping with AI tools, directing agents, and reviewing generated code and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Be the standard for what Schedule Studio produces, reviewing generated programmes and turning findings into product and model improvements.
  • Own the definition of schedule quality across the product.
  • Plan and own the squad's quarter, reconciling against unplanned work and support demands.
  • Make build/kill decisions based on evidence and assess the value of work before building.
  • Write clear specs, prompt agents effectively, and review/edit generated code and output.
  • Keep idea-to-test timelines to days by choosing the cheapest path to a valid test.
  • Design and ship planning agents, defining their actions, constraints, and planner involvement.
  • Define schedule quality for machine scoring and prove changes with structured evaluations.
  • Conduct user and buyer research with planning managers, project controls leads, and programme directors.
  • Sit in on client and sales meetings to gather feedback from planners.
  • Lead squad members to decisions and delivery without handovers.
  • Coordinate dependencies with other squads and spread learnings through guilds.

Requirements

  • Five-plus years as a planner or scheduler on major construction or infrastructure projects, building, maintaining, and defending contractually and commercially live programmes.
  • Deep fluency in Primavera P6 (Asta, MSP, or TILOS a bonus), including logic, calendars, constraints, baselines, WBS and coding structures.
  • Ability to read a programme and quickly assess its trustworthiness.
  • A clear point of view on schedule quality, with the ability to articulate what makes a programme credible and identify common quality checks.
  • Experience arguing about float and holding ground.
  • Daily use of AI tools (LLMs) for drafting, analysis, or automation, with a desire to go further.
  • Ability to take an ambiguous problem, identify user needs, and make sound decisions based on understanding trade-offs.
  • Proficiency in using data to identify problems and measure the success of shipped work.
  • Sharp communication skills to explain complex trade-offs to diverse audiences.
  • Willingness to change one's mind based on evidence.
  • Energized by challenging problems, high stakes, and unclear paths.
