About the Role
The Roads team in the London & South East Region is experiencing significant growth and is seeking experienced individuals to join them. This role involves winning work, recruiting talent, developing local teams, and delivering complex projects.
Responsibilities
- Act as a visible role model, supporting staff development, health, safety, and wellbeing.
- Promote inclusion and diversity, and develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Perform line management, team leadership, mentoring, and recruitment.
- Manage team utilization and ensure strong performance in collaboration with the Regional Director.
- Promote a collaborative approach to service delivery and problem-solving.
- Engage with clients and external stakeholders to build strong relationships.
- Act as Project Director, taking accountability for project performance and financial targets.
- Lead capture and bidding programs for large and complex infrastructure opportunities.
- Develop a strong pipeline of new work.
- Provide technical leadership on projects across London & South East and offshore teams.
- Build strong relationships and provide technical leadership across all locations.
- Shape the region through technical quality, excellence, and team development.
- Promote a collaborative culture focused on technical quality and excellence.
- Support a diverse portfolio that builds skills, mobility, and long-term resilience.
- Develop strong, trusted client relationships and provide comprehensive advice.
- Collaborate across Roads, Transport, and Infrastructure to achieve shared goals.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation and quality standards.
- Support resource planning by building teams and matching people to roles.
- Take on client, account, or framework leadership roles.
Requirements
- Broad highways experience across civil engineering and multi-disciplinary projects.
- Ability to motivate others, lead change, and foster an innovative, supportive culture.
- Commercial and strategic capability with a track record of winning and delivering new business.
- Proactively manage change, clearly communicating impacts on programme, cost, and quality.
- Influential and persuasive, while encouraging open dialogue and feedback.
- Proven ability to lead one or more design disciplines across relevant transport and development projects.
- Excellent client, stakeholder, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience complying with Designers’ Duties under CDM regulations.
