About the Role

The Senior Project Manager, Transportation & Citywide Projects (SPM) will manage stakeholder engagement for projects in the citywide transportation portfolio and special projects. The SPM will act as a liaison to City Council staff, respond to inquiries from elected officials and City agencies, and advise senior leadership on policy recommendations related to transportation legislative efforts. The role is crucial for developing outreach and engagement strategies to support agency projects.

Responsibilities

  • Create public, elected official, stakeholder engagement, and multi-faceted communications strategies.
  • Support cross-departmental or cross-agency projects, ensuring external project objectives are achieved.
  • Monitor and track progress of public commitments and project goals.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, establishing trust and positive rapport.
  • Manage upwards and seek guidance on next steps.
  • Lead engagement on key EDC projects such as the Greenway expansion, Planning/Transportation, and Asset Management within the expanded Ports/Waterfront/Transportation portfolio.
  • Oversee public approvals processes and coordinate with the Department of Transportation.
  • Create and deliver presentations, memos, and other materials for various audiences.
  • Assist the Grants Team with transportation-related grant applications, review scopes, and develop stakeholder engagement plans.
  • Coordinate letters of support for transportation grants.
  • Coordinate Red Hook specific engagement, focusing on traffic congestion, traffic planning, and port terminals.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with Red Hook stakeholders.
  • Support processes for the disbursal of the NYC Cruise Community Funds (BCT and MCT).
  • Provide project support for Government and Community Partnerships policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience working with elected officials, public agencies, and/or community-based organizations.
  • Collaborative approach and experience working within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in industry initiatives, transportation, project financing, and/or land use policy.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and adjust as needed.
  • Strong knowledge of the City, State, and Federal legislative processes.
  • Ability to travel within the five boroughs of NYC.
  • Ability to attend evening and occasional weekend meetings.
  • New York City residency required within 180 days of hire.
