About the Role
This position involves developing Linux-related software for Renesas RZ MPUs, collaborating with LSI design departments and global OSS communities. You will contribute to the design and development of new hardware device drivers, security features like encryption and secure boot, and common Linux-related software for high-end processor products. The role also includes managing and maintaining deliverables as inner-source, introducing and evaluating OSS for industrial network functions, and engaging in technical negotiations and proposals with internal and external stakeholders. You will also be involved in setting up development environments using Yocto Project, developing proprietary libraries for Ubuntu and Debian, managing vulnerability information, and improving processes for software maintenance and quality assurance. Furthermore, you will conduct technical investigations and prototyping for next-generation products.
Responsibilities
- Design and development of Device Drivers for new hardware
- Design and development of security functions such as encryption and secure boot using dedicated HW
- Design and development of common Linux-related software (Linux kernel, Trusted Firmware-A, U-Boot, OP-TEE, etc.) for high-end processor products
- Management and maintenance of deliverables as inner-source
- Introduction and evaluation of OSS for industrial network functions like OPC UA
- Technical negotiation, technical proposal, and technical support with internal and external stakeholders, including OSS communities
- Patch submission to OSS communities
- Development environment setup using Yocto Project (recipe creation/maintenance)
- Package development of proprietary libraries for Ubuntu and Debian
- Management of vulnerability information (CVE) and formulation of patch response policies, and implementation of countermeasures
- Formulation and management of software maintenance plans, and process improvement and automation for quality assurance
- Technical investigation, prototyping, and consideration for next-generation products
Requirements
- Embedded software development experience (approx. 5+ years)
- Ability to understand detailed software control from hardware specifications and independently develop and debug such control
- Basic knowledge of open-source licenses such as GPL, MIT, and BSD
- Communication skills with customers and internal/external stakeholders
- Willingness to challenge work using English
- Business level Japanese
