About the Role
The Director will support revenue and profit growth for Control Risks’ Compliance, Investigations & eDiscovery practice, focusing on investigations, proactive compliance, forensic accounting, expert testimony, litigation support, and disputes. This role will translate the practice’s offerings into a clearer market proposition for legal, compliance, investigations, and risk buyers. The Director will create and convert qualified opportunities, build targeted campaigns, develop client messaging and collateral, and support pursuit strategies for sensitive investigations and regulatory matters.
Responsibilities
- Achieve annual revenue through individual business development, sales origination, campaign execution, and collaboration with regional leaders.
- Develop new business opportunities across investigations, proactive compliance, forensic accounting, expert testimony, litigation support, and disputes.
- Create top-of-funnel opportunities by identifying target accounts, mapping buyers, prioritizing prospects, and building relationships with key stakeholders.
- Position Control Risks as a multidisciplinary compliance, investigations, and disputes partner.
- Contribute to targeted campaigns, client briefings, webinars, roundtables, and thought leadership initiatives.
- Partner with marketing, practitioners, and practice leaders to create bespoke collateral, pitch materials, and client messaging.
- Develop market opportunities for testifying and consulting experts in litigation and arbitration contexts.
- Support pursuit strategy and sales processes by shaping client needs, scoping services, and coordinating practitioner involvement.
- Leverage CRM and outreach technology to manage prospect activity, monitor pipeline development, and report on business development progress.
- Employ an entrepreneurial and practical approach to testing new channels, messages, partnerships, and event formats.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- 7+ years of sales, business development, commercial, or client development experience in investigations, compliance, disputes, forensic accounting, expert services, litigation consulting, or related professional services.
- Demonstrated understanding of buyers and referral sources for investigations and compliance-led work.
- Ability to understand and clearly communicate multidisciplinary Compliance and Investigations offerings.
- Experience developing pipeline through targeted outreach, referral-building, campaigns, events, social media, thought leadership, and relationship-based business development.
- Experience working with senior practitioners to shape client conversations, capture needs, support pursuit strategy, and move opportunities from initial interest to proposal.
- Strong commercial judgment, including experience supporting pricing, scoping, fee models, margin analysis, and deal strategy for consulting or professional services engagements.
- Familiarity with CRM systems, sales outreach tools, campaign tracking, and related business development technology.
- Working knowledge of how digital forensics, eDiscovery, data analytics, and AI-assisted review can be cross-sold.
- Ability to work collaboratively with practitioners, marketing, and leadership to develop sales materials and strategies.
- Entrepreneurial, creative, and proactive approach to identifying new opportunities and translating complex advisory services into clear commercial value propositions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
