About the Role
Stantec is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Editor to contribute to our Document Support team within the Environmental Services division. The role involves editing documents for grammar, clarity, style, and consistency, formatting deliverables to meet standards, and remediating PDFs for accessibility compliance.
Responsibilities
- Review reports, publications, proposals, and correspondence for clarity, format consistency, and grammatical accuracy.
- Edit technical documents including National Environmental Policy Act studies, biological reports, cultural resources reports, and permit applications.
- Assist with the preparation of proposals and other business development work products.
- Remediate public-facing documents for Section 508/accessibility compliance using specialized software (CommonLook).
- Provide technical editing support to project managers, ensuring work product consistency.
- Manage quality control, production, and distribution of documents according to schedules.
Requirements
- Excellent written communication skills with expert-level knowledge of English grammar.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proactive problem-solving attitude and self-starter mentality.
- Familiarity with style guides (e.g., Chicago, APA) and ability to implement client-specific protocols and company standards.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and remain flexible in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Familiarity with U.S. accessibility compliance policies and practices.
- Willingness to learn specialized software (CommonLook) for document remediation.
