About the Role
This role will serve as the marketing lead for Hearst Austin Media’s portfolio of wellness, lifestyle, food, music, and community events, with a primary focus on the Cap10K, Texas' largest 10K and one of Austin's most iconic traditions. We are looking for someone who wants to immerse themselves in Hearst Austin Media’s event culture and help grow some of the most recognized experiential brands in Central Texas.
Responsibilities
- Tell the story of our events year-round through social media, video, email, digital campaigns and community activations.
- Interview participants, capture content in the field, showcase event experiences and help audiences feel connected long before race day or event day arrives.
- Develop marketing campaigns that drive registrations, ticket sales, attendance, merchandise purchases and repeat participation.
- Understand our audiences, their motivations, and what inspires them to become lifelong fans.
- Work closely with Race Director, event producers, creative team and operations leaders.
- Attend planning meetings, community activations, training runs, sponsor events, merchandise launches and race-weekend activities.
- Launch products, create campaigns, build anticipation and turn our merchandise program into something audiences actively seek out.
- Develop relationships with running clubs, fitness groups, creators, community organizations, local businesses and cultural influencers.
Requirements
- 3+ years of marketing, audience development, events, experiential marketing, community engagement or related experience.
- Comfortable appearing on camera and interviewing participants.
- Experience building campaigns that drive registrations, attendance, purchases or subscriptions.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as events require.
- Passion for live experiences and community-building.
Skills
- Strong social media and content creation skills.
- Video creation and storytelling experience.
