About the Role
AHRC New York City is seeking a School Aide for the AHRC Middle/HS in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn. This role supports students with neurodiverse needs in achieving their educational and personal goals.
Responsibilities
- Follow the daily activity schedule and lesson plans under the direction of the Teacher/Behavior Trainer.
- Support and guide the implementation of student objectives as indicated in their IEP.
- Provide direct care services, including toileting, dressing, and feeding, in an instructional manner to foster independence.
- Participate in student arrival and dismissal.
- Accompany students in activities outside the classroom, ensuring their safety and addressing physical needs.
- Understand the nature of student disabilities and their impact on performance.
- Be familiar with student IEP objectives, educational purpose, methodology, medical alerts, and EPOP.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required.
- Experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.
