About the Role
We are a fully regulated UK bank powering the accounts and payments offerings of product-led fintechs and platforms. We provide the banking backbone for various industries and are expanding into card issuing, stablecoin infrastructure, and agentic finance. Responsibilities
- Manage the infrastructure the bank runs on, both in the cloud and on our own hardware in third-party data centres.
- Run FoundationDB clusters and build tooling for hitless upgrades.
- Manage Kubernetes.
- Write infrastructure as code in Pulumi and CDK.
- Run the Bazel build farm.
- Own the deployment pipeline from CI to production.
- Ensure operational resilience through replica clusters, multi-region failover, and chaos engineering.
- Manage security access, CircleCI pipelines, DataDog integration, and cloud spend.
- Build out self-hosted infrastructure to support a hybrid-cloud setup and remove single-vendor reliance.
- Improve Kubernetes scaling.
- Improve the build farm.
- Build out PKI infrastructure.
- Plan for a global HTTP routing layer for seamless failover between sites.
- Own infrastructure architecture decisions.
- Ensure production reliability of the database, compute, build farm, and deployment pipelines.
- Provide CI/CD, security access, and monitoring integration for other teams.
- Manage infrastructure cost and efficiency across AWS and DataDog.
Requirements
- Solid systems experience, including running container orchestration in production.
- Experience writing infrastructure as code.
- Understanding of IP networking sufficient to debug issues.
- Cloud infrastructure experience, including building and managing production environments.
- Experience with networking, identity management, and compute at scale.
- Strong programming fundamentals, writing code to solve problems (TypeScript, Python, Go, or functional languages are acceptable).
- Comfort with startup environments, including small teams, shifting priorities, and high autonomy.
- Willingness to learn Clojure.
- Comfortable picking up new languages and approaches.
- Ability to read and understand codebases of open-source systems and tools written in diverse languages.
- Successful completion of background screening, including verification of right to work, criminal record, credit history, social media, and professional reference checks.
