About the Role
Amazon is building its own transportation network to provide the highest standard of delivery services to further improve customer experience in Japan. The Sr. Specialist, Procurement Strategy & Planning will collaborate with long-haul carriers and internal Amazon departments to develop and secure the necessary capacity for long-term growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute long-term procurement strategies, considering future logistics industry challenges like driver shortages, to support Amazon's expanding transportation network.
- Create and implement procurement plans based on long-term strategies, ensuring necessary transportation capacity is secured annually and quarterly.
- Manage carrier performance in terms of quality, capacity, and cost, and control order volumes through vendor selection based on quotes.
- Plan and improve the quoting and order management process, utilizing data to enable efficient and transparent quote acquisition and accurate order placement.
- Quantify and analyze various aspects of long-haul transportation, develop effective solutions for challenges, and implement them with speed.
- Stay informed about changes and trends in the logistics environment, build strong relationships with carriers, and contribute to shaping Amazon's long-haul transportation with flexible thinking and a long-term vision.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Intermediate PC skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel with functions and pivot tables for analysis).
- Business-level Japanese proficiency.
- Experience in corporate sales across any industry, or experience in business improvement through information analysis.
- Experience in the logistics industry within an IT company or consulting firm.
- Ability to act with flexibility and make logical decisions.
- Excellent multitasking skills and ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Experience in identifying issues in ambiguous situations and resolving them with logical reasoning.
- Quantitative analysis skills using SQL or similar tools and high IT literacy.
- Experience coordinating with overseas departments or business-level English proficiency (TOEIC 700+).
- Positive attitude towards contributing to an inclusive culture and working in diverse teams.
