About the Role

Saab, Inc.'s Surveillance Systems Division is seeking a Director, Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) to lead their growing and evolving SEIT organization. This role involves leading a team of SEIT managers and engineers to deliver high-quality SEIT products, collaborating with leadership to ensure execution within cost and schedule targets, and translating business strategy into actionable SEIT plans.

Responsibilities

Build and develop a team with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for current and future needs.
Instill a full life cycle and systems thinking mindset throughout the team.
Ensure sufficient staffing for all Programs, R&D Projects, Product Teams, and other projects requiring SEIT personnel.
Partner with senior leadership to translate business strategy into actionable SEIT plans and ensure consistent execution.
Drive SEIT organizational planning and execution, including staffing, budgeting, and resource alignment.
Manage cost estimating activities for contract proposals, IR&D, Capital, and overhead budgets.
Recruit, retain, and assign engineering talent to meet evolving organizational and timeline needs.
Manage the annual performance review, compensation review, and career development processes for the SEIT organization.
Build organizational capability by developing management and technical talent through training, job-related work, knowledge-sharing, and development planning.
Provide technical oversight, guidance, mentorship, and coaching to assigned personnel.
Develop technical solutions, assess technical risk, and identify risk mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with the Functional Engineering Leadership Team to identify opportunities for growth, drive continuous improvement, and implement best practices.
Foster an environment of continuous improvement in the quality, cost, and schedule performance of System Development.
Interface with Saab, Inc. functions including Security, ICT, HR, and Operations.

Requirements

18+ years of experience in a technical/engineering environment.
At least 5+ years in a leadership role focused on engineering management and leading other people managers.
Proven success building, scaling, and leading a high-performing engineering function.
Ability to contribute to development strategy and lead strategic initiatives.
Ability to build a high-functioning engineering team focused on meeting business objectives.
Ability to make decisions of high impact in the presence of uncertainty.
Demonstrated experience contributing to and aligning engineering strategy and execution with broader business and programmatic goals.
Experience shaping organizational direction through technical leadership, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ability to lead through ambiguity, anticipating change, mitigating risk, and making sound high-impact decisions.
Demonstrated success in developing technical talent and managing team performance.
Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
Willingness to travel up to 10% in support of program and business development efforts.
Ability to obtain a Secret level clearance.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
