About the Role
Mendo is the AI Transformation Platform for enterprise clients, working inside the AI tools teams already use to guide them toward proven use cases, certify their skills, and provide organizations with a clear view of value drivers. Responsibilities
- Train, fine-tune, and evaluate proprietary language models, including small on-device models.
- Curate and maintain datasets, golden sets, and evaluation harnesses for model assessment.
- Ship model updates into production and measure their results.
- Own the health of AI features in production, focusing on quality, cost, and latency.
- Debug AI incidents end-to-end, addressing issues from retrieval quality to model behavior.
- Keep models, prompts, and pipelines current with evolving tooling and APIs.
- Partner with product managers and engineers to prototype new AI use cases.
- Provide evidence such as evaluations, cost estimates, and latency numbers for decision-making.
- Clearly explain AI trade-offs to non-technical colleagues.
- Document built components and rationale to foster knowledge sharing.
- Coach junior engineers and interns on AI topics.
Requirements
- 3–5 years in ML / AI engineering with experience shipping and operating models or AI features in production.
- Hands-on experience with LLM fine-tuning, RAG, and embeddings, including evaluation methods.
- Experience monitoring and optimizing AI systems in production for cost, latency, and quality.
- Solid software engineering fundamentals, including tests, CI, and observability.
- Comfortable working with Python and across a TypeScript product codebase.
- Experience with small language models (SLMs) and on-device/on-prem model deployment is a strong plus.
- Execution-first mindset, prioritizing measured improvements over ambitious redesigns.
- Pragmatic and product-minded approach, focusing on user impact over technical novelty.
- Autonomous within scope, with clear escalation paths for architectural or cost decisions.
- Excellent command of French and English, both technical and professional.
